Groups palette
Drag the Title bar to reposition the palette.
Click the Close box to turn the palette display “off”.
Click the Window shade box to “compress” the palette, and move it off View
windows; click on Window shade button on “compressed” palette to expand
the palette, and move it back to its previous position over View windows.
Click on a list/chart item to select it (bounding box selection).
Double-click on a list/chart item to access its Info dialog box.
“I” column
Insertion pointer (red, right-pointing arrow) indicates list-position for next
item insertion. Drag the arrow in the column. (When an item(s) is
added/created in the database, its position in the list is determined by the
Insertion pointer.)
“D” column (radio buttons)
Controls item display in View windows; black indicates item displays
normally (wire frame); white indicates item display is “off”; gray indicates
bounding box display (Option-click in column). Click in column next to item
to toggle “on/off”.
Name list
Hierarchical list of all items in the database. To rearrange the list items:
select an item; drag it to a new position in the list; or cut the item, and paste
it into the list (Insertion pointer determines new position).
List-item icons
Pencil icon
represents individual object.
Folder icon (aka parent)
represents a group of items (aka children); gray, right-pointing arrow next
to a folder indicates closed folder (items in the folder are not shown in the
list); click on arrow to open folder (gray, down-pointing arrow next to a
folder (items in the folder are shown in the list)).
Broken pencil icon
represents Morphable Spline Mesh object (v3.2 or later).
Book icon
represents Library item, or an insertion of a Library item. Drag an item
from this palette onto the Libraries palette to convert the item to a
Library item.
File Cabinet icon
represents an assembly “folder” item-type (i.e. Boolean difference folder).
Lock/Unlock buttons
Red, closed padlock button
Select a list item; click on the Lock button; red, closed padlock shows
next to the list item, and holds item geometry from changes.
Green, open padlock button
Select a “locked” list item; click on the Unlock button; removes the red
padlock from the list; frees item geometry to changes.
Chart/List palette view button
Controls Groups palette display mode; click on button to toggle between
Chart and List display modes.
List mode
Described above.
Chart mode
Displays database in “tree” hierarchy (similar to organizational chart).
Item rearrangement is not possible (most other functions same as List
mode). The database is represented at the top (folder-box labeled
“Design”). Each item in the data base is represented by a box. Each box
shows the item name, list-item type icon, and item display radio button;
gray, right-pointing arrow at the bottom of a folder indicates closed folder
(items in the folder are not shown in the chart). Click on the gray arrow to
toggle “on/off” the display of folder items in the chart.
